BIOGRAPHY
Kenneth G. Byers, Jr.
Founder and President

Ken Byers founded Atlanta based Byers Engineering Company
in 1971 to offer technical services and software services
to utilities. President and sole shareowner of the 1100
employee firm, Ken is also a director of The Alpine
Group, Inc., a public manufacturing company, and is
Chairman of eQuorum
Corporation, a private software company.
Ken endowed the Byers Eminent Scholar Chair in Optical Networking and three Byers Professorships at Georgia Tech and serves as a trustee of the Georgia Tech
Foundation. He is a past director of the Chief Executives Organization
and a past Chairman of the Georgia Tech Electrical Engineering Advisory
Board. Ken is also a past Chairman of the SciTrek Museum, Atlanta's
former science and technology museum.
A registered Professional Engineer in 18 states, Ken
earned a BEE (under the co-op program with Southern
Bell) and an MSEE from Georgia Tech. He also received
an MBA from Georgia State University.
Outside of business, Ken has been a director and officer of his Rotary Club of Atlanta, and he enjoys tennis, running, and amateur radio (call letters K4TEA).
