BYERS REPOSITIONS
EXECUTIVE TEAM FOR CONTINUED GROWTH AND SUCCESS IN TELECOMMUNICATIONS
AND UTILITY MARKETS
ATLANTA -- Byers Engineering Company today announced strategic
management team changes to guide the 29 year-old, Atlanta-based
company through 2000 and beyond. Internal promotions and successful
recruiting reflect Byers' growth and complement strategies for continued
success in software and engineering for telecommunications and utility
companies.

said Kenneth G. Byers, Jr., founder and president. "At the same
time, we are meeting the challenges associated with recruiting highly
skilled and talented new employees as the company grows due to continued

Averaging more than 21 years experience, the Byers executive team
touts proven performance and industry knowledge.
Tim Parker, President, Engineering Division
Promoted from Vice President to President - Engineering Division,
Tim Parker, a 20-year veteran of the company, is responsible for
the division's overall business operations including outside and
inside plant design services, project management, right-of-way acquisition,
and technical training services to the telecommunications and utility
industries. Parker has represented the firm in various technical
assignments throughout the southeast and has acted in management
positions for 15 years.
Camille Sirmon, Vice President, Engineering Division
Most recently an Engineering Division manager with responsibility
for Alabama and the gulf coast region of Florida, Camille Sirmon
has been promoted to Vice President - Engineering Division with
operational responsibility for the south central and southwestern
regions. An associate at Byers since July 1992, Sirmon has over
12 years of design and management experience and is certified as
an Associate Engineering Technician by the Society of Professional
Engineers. She previously has worked for Gilbert, Brooks and Foster,
Hayes International, Stanford Research, Lockheed, and the Department
of Defense.
Tim Longwell has rejoined the Byers team and will assume Sirmon's
engineering management responsibilities for Alabama and the gulf
coast of Florida. Tim previously spent over ten years with Byers
and was responsible for a variety of engineering projects throughout
the southeast.
Denise Demick, Chief Financial Officer
Byers' newly appointed Chief Financial Officer, Denise Demick moves
into the executive position following one year as Corporate Controller.
Prior to working with Byers, Demick worked 14 years in senior level
financial management positions with companies including Arthur Andersen
and Scherer Scientific, Ltd. Demick has significant experience in
the areas of tax reporting and planning, acquisitions and divestitures,
and SEC/IPO preparation. Additionally, Demick is a member of the
Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants and American Institute
of Certified Public Accountants.
Stewart Asbury, Senior Vice President, SpatialAge Solutions
Division
Stewart Asbury has been promoted to Senior Vice President
- SpatialAge Solutions Division. With two decades experience
in the design and implementation of data conversion
systems and AM/FM software applications, Asbury came
to Byers in 1980 from Arthur Andersen Consulting. Asbury
developed Byers' exclusive Knowledge MappingO process-an
innovative cognitive task analysis process that is key
in developing customized software solutions. Additionally,
Asbury is an active GITA (Geospatial Information & Technology
Association) member and chairs the GITA Education Committee.
Bill Bersson, Vice President - Services, SpatialAge Solutions
Division
Bill Bersson takes on new responsibilities as Vice President - Services
of the SpatialAge Solutions Division. Previously Director - Operations,
Bersson has more than 20 years experience in engineering and nearly
a decade of experience in the geospatial information field. Prior
to joining Byers, Bersson spent more than ten years with Rosser
International where he was vice president of the AM/FM/GIS group
and later division president for the civil engineering division.
Bersson is a national director for the Society of American Military
Engineers (SAME), a professional engineering society.
Ray Newman, Vice President - Software, SpatialAge Solutions
Division
Ray Newman has had direct involvement in every aspect of the records
conversion process. In his new position as Vice President - Software
of the SpatialAge Solutions Division, Newman will continue to utilize
his primary expertise in managing the development of AM/FM/GIS software
applications for the telecommunications and utility industries.
Newman's experience includes major projects for operating companies
of BellSouth, Southwestern Bell, New York Telephone, Wisconsin Bell,
Southern New England Telephone, General Telephone, United Telephone,
MCI, Southern California Gas, and City of Calgary Electric System.
