Division Converts and Migrates
TELUS data in to IMAGE
Atlanta, GA February
17, 2005 Byers Engineering
Company's SpatialAge®
Solutions Division has completed
a major Outside Plant GIS records
project for TELUS. The project
entailed the digital migration
of approximately 75 wire centers
from the TELUS ICGS system to
their IMAGE system and the conversion
of their remaining outside plant
paper records. The conversion
project also required land base
re-projection and rubber sheeting
on about 10% of the land base
work. TELUS facilities now fit
on the land base that was developed
as part of an integrated cadastral
initiative revolving around
a partnership between British
Columbia's major utilities,
provincial government ministries
and crown corporations, and
local government. As a separate
award in preparation for this
project, Byers was selected
to write the conversion and
migration specification that
was ultimately incorporated
into the Request for Proposal
that went out to a select number
of vendors.
