SpatialAge Fiber Management Tool (FMT)™
is a geospatial application that gives the user fast
access to all of the details associated with a fiber
network. FMT provides an efficient environment for managing
complex fiber optic telecommunications networks, providing
users the ability to:
- access customized views, both geographic and tabular
- analyze data via the Internet
- view fiber routes, devices, and details (bay, rack,
shelf, card, and port)
- access buildings, optical patch panels, multiplexers,
and fiber DLCs through intelligent graphical diagrams
- support outage and restoration tasks - highlighting
location, dispatch orders, and presenting priority
restoration rules
- query and view fiber network by strand or by cable
designation and count
- model and support different network topologies and
architectures, including: SONET/SDH, FDDI, TDM, ATM,
WDM, DWDM
- build intelligent planned facilities
- analyze fiber forecasts by CSA, equipment location,
or customer
- determine capacity relief timing
- analyze ring fiber routes for both route and wire
center diversity.
FMT offers unparalleled restoration functionality,
allowing engineers to significantly reduce outage times.
When an outage occurs, FMT quickly shows the user the
location of the outage, access location details, affected
circuits and customers, cable restoration order, and
splice and test details.
Planners can also benefit from FMT, allowing them to
define intelligent fiber routes and devices associated
with customers or service areas. Planners can model
future growth and demand, and visualize the impact of
capacity on planned and existing facilities. FMT supports
overlaying of the existing copper network, as well as
demographics and business geographics, including customer
locations, competitive data, CLEC information, and commercially
available data such as census data.
